Daily Routine Tips & Explanations

Morning Routine

Begin with a Cleanser

  • They remove overnight oils, sweat deposits, and any nighttime products you may have been using

  • Those with dry or sensitive skin should consider using products labeled ‘gentle’, and refrain from scrubbing too vigorously

Use a Toner as an optional way to prepare the skin for introducing serum

  • Using a toner balances the skin’s pH, removes any leftover residue, and prepares your skin to absorb skin serums

  • Look for alcohol-free toners with simpler ingredients

  • Added ingredients like rose water or chamomile, among many others, can add additional benefits such as soothing irritated skin

Apply a Serum

  • This is the most potent part of any skincare routine, targeting the dermal layers with concentrated, active ingredients.

  • Serums come with many added ingredients. Additional Vitamin C, for instance, can provide more antioxidant protection and brightening, while an ingredient like Aloe, for example, may add additional skin regeneration following sunburns.

  • Serums generally contain antioxidant and hydrating ingredients. At Nourri, we supply antioxidants through our proprietary collagen peptide blend, and Hyaluronic Acid acts as an additional hydrating agent.

Incorporate a Moisturizer

  • These can lock in hydrating ingredients and help maintain your skin barrier throughout the day.

  • Lightweight moisturizing gels are generally a good match for oily skin. Richer creams tend to perform better for dry skin.

Use Sunscreen as necessary

  • Never skip an opportunity to protects your skin against prolonged UV exposure and damage.

  • Using sunscreen helps prevent the appearance of premature aging, and is an important defense against skin cancer.

Of course, we recommend the Nourri Revitalizing Skin Serum as an effective way to deliver bioavailable nutrients that your body needs during the serum step of your morning routine. At Nourri, we are developing additional products like moisturizers and cleaners that will be effective at supporting all types of skin and helping your dermal layers maintain their optimal health, and therefore their best appearance.

Evening Routine

Start with a Makeup Remover

  • It removes sunscreen, makeup, oil, or any other surface materials that may have built up over the course of the day; it also draws out debris and pollutants your skin may be holding.

  • Balms are going to be oil-based, while most other cleansers will be water-based.

Use a Cleanser

  • Just like the morning routine, they remove oil, sweat, and leftover residue not removed by the makeup remover.

  • Choose a cleanser with ‘gentle’ ingredients, as necessary for your skin type.

Apply an Exfoliant (2-3 times per week)

  • These act to remove dead skin cells and function as an agent to ‘unclog’ skin pores.

  • Strictly adhere to any exfoliant directions- overexposure to a product or using more than is necessary can irritate or even diminish the skin barrier.

  • Chemical exfoliants use acids or enzymes to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells. Physical exfoliants use scrubbing particles to physically remove dead cells.

  • Avoid artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances, as these can irritate the skin.

Use a Toner, if desired

  • The same toner can be used for both times of the day, but morning toners generally focus on balancing the skin’s pH, while toners geared towards restoring and repairing the skin are better suited for an evening routine. If possible, buy a separate one for each time of the day.

  • Read the directions for use, as it may not be advantageous to apply certain toners to irritated or broken skin.

Apply your Serum

  • Certain serums may target concerns like acne or fine lines, while others might be more appropriate for diminishing pigmentation or free radicals. In every case, research the ingredients in your serum and find the one most appropriate for your needs.

  • Many products have key ingredients that correspond to a skin need: serums containing retinol or retinoid are generally aimed to prevent aging and fight acne. Items with Niacinamide likely enhance brightening or regulate oil control. Most serums contain hyaluronic acid or an alternative made to supply deep hydration along with any antioxidants included in the formula.

Apply Eye Cream, as necessary

  • Eye creams can reduce puffiness, dryness, and the fine lines that develop around your eyelids.

  • Products with low concentrations of peptides and retinol can work along with your previously applied serum to deliver more nutrition to the cells around your eyes.
